Jim Corbett
Director of Pastoral Care
Walker Baptist Medical Center

Jim Corbett
is originally from Huntsville, Alabama and Whitesburg Baptist Church. He holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Alabama and earned his Master of Divinity at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is a board certified chaplain with the Association of Professional Chaplains and is also a certified member of the American Association of Pastoral Counselors.  Jim served as pastor of Bewleyville Baptist Church in Kentucky prior to becoming a chaplain. He has served as a chaplain for the past 30 years, including 26 years with Baptist Health System. Jim and his wife Donna have two adult daughters and are members of First Baptist Church in Jasper. 


Rhonda Young Daniels is an ordained minister and is endorsed by the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc.

A native of Davenport, Iowa, Rhonda received a Bachelor of Science in Fashion Merchandising from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa; and a Master of Divinity from Samford University, Beeson Divinity School in Birmingham, AL. She completed a summer intensive unit of CPE at the University of Alabama Birmingham (UAB) Hospital in Birmingham, AL. After completing seminary Rhonda came to Princeton Baptist Medical Center where she completed two years of CPE residency and currently she is in Supervisory CPE training and is certified as a Supervisory Candidate by the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE).

Rhonda is married to Eugene and they have two daughters.





Tricia Dimmitt
Shelby Baptist Medical Center

Chaplain Tricia Dimmitt, joined the pastoral care team at Shelby in the fall of 2009. She has been involved in pastoral ministry for over a decade. Her areas of interest include: bereavement care, support groups, and women’s services. She received her BA in Psychology from Oklahoma Baptist University in 2000, followed by a three year commitment serving churches in Northeast Brazil. Tricia attended seminary at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, in Fort Worth, TX, where she earned her Master of Divinity. Her ministry experience in the hospital setting includes internships at Huguley Memorial Medical Center and Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital, both facilities in Fort Worth. She is intentional about maintaining an active membership in the local church, taking leadership in educational initiatives within the Alabama chaplain community, and volunteering with Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Greater Birmingham. Tricia is an ordained minister and a certified member of the Association of Professional Chaplains, as well as endorsed by the Baptist General Convention of Texas.



Barbara Embry
Citizens Baptist Medical Center

Barbara Embry came to Citizens Baptist in 2009 after having served on the Pastoral Advisory Council and as a volunteer chaplain.  She is a native Talladegan who spent most of her life away from Talladega for purposes of education and career.  She has served in the capacity of Information Systems Manager for three hospitals in Atlanta, Georgia, Doctor's Memorial, Southwest Community, and DeKalb General Hospitals.  She also worked as a Job Developer for the City of Atlanta's Private Industry Council.
She was licensed and ordained at the Friendship Baptist Church in College Park, Georgia. 

She returned to her native Talladega in 1989, along with her husband Pastor Bobby Embry, also of Talladega County.  She has been a pastor for over 25 years and was the pastor of King's Chapel Congregational United Church of Christ for three years, and is the founding pastor of Christ Deliverance Christian Center in Talladega.  In addition, she serves as prison chaplain for a state facility in Childersburg, Alabama and on several municipal and civic boards. She and Bobby have been married for 44 years and have twins (Tabatha and Pastor Timothy Embry), three granddaughters and a great grandson Jayden Tyler.





Gary Fisher
Director of Church/Faith Relations
Baptist Health System

Gary Fisher is a native of Tuscaloosa, AL and graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in Secondary Education. He received the Master of Theology degree in the honors program at the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He also holds the Doctor of Ministry degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He served as Senior Pastor in four different Southern Baptist churches over 35 years of ministry. He was introduced to health care ministry by serving on the Board of Trustees for the Baptist Health System for 21 years. As the Corporate Director of Pastoral Services, he works with various denominational and Christian organizations to promote and further the ministry of health care provided by the Baptist Health System. Dr. Fisher remains in great demand for interim ministry and pulpit supply for local churches.



Len Gavin
Staff Chaplain
Princeton Baptist Medical Center

Ordained and endorsed by the Anglican Diocese of Alpha and Omega, Len Gavin received his bachelor's degree from Auburn University. He is a graduate of St. Michael's Seminary and completed a clinical pastoral education residency with Baptist Health System. His affiliations include: the U.S. Marine Corps Association, Delta Chi Fraternity, the National Guard Association, Auburn University Alumni Association, the Association of Professional Chaplains and the Anglican Church of the Most Blessed Name. Len is a retired Army National Guard Lt. Col. and a graduate of Inspector General School and the Command and General Staff College. A Marine Corps Vietnam veteran, he is married, has four sons and two grandchildren. Len and his wife are members of the Anglican Church of The Most Blessed Name in Homewood.



Pat Pruitt, Administrative Assistant
Clinical Pastoral Education

Pat has been employed with Baptist Health System since 1999 and has served in the Pastoral Care Department at Baptist Health System since 1999. She received her secretarial training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and Birmingham Business College. She also trained as a medical assistant at The Birmingham College of Allied Health. Pat is married with one daughter and one granddaughter. She is a member of Mt. Ararat Baptist Church in Birmingham.



Cecelia A. Walker, MDIV, DMIN, BCC, ACPE
Director Pastoral Care and CPE

Rev. Dr Cecelia A. Walker is a native of Birmingham, Alabama who is endorsed by the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship.  A fourth generation Baptist, Dr. Walker is the first woman in her family to be an ordained minister. She has earned three degrees: a BA in Human Resources Management from Birmingham Southern College, a Master of Divinity from Beeson Divinity School and a Doctorate of Ministry from the Interdenominational Theological Center, Morehouse School of Religion. She completed two Clinical Pastoral Education Residencies at Baptist Health System in 2000. After completing her residency she was hired as the first Trauma Chaplain Fellow in the country at University Hospital, Birmingham, AL. She served as the Emergency, Trauma and Burns Chaplain at UAB for six years and as CPE Supervisor at UAB concurrently the last three years at UAB. In 2008, Dr. Walker joined the Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System to develop a CPE program. She led that program to become fully accredited in 2011. Dr. Walker is using the gifts and opportunities God has given her to serve as a pioneer Baptist woman in ministry. She was the first woman Associate Minister at the Greater Shiloh Baptist Church in Birmingham, AL and the second woman Associate Minister at Trinity Baptist Church Birmingham, Al.  She currently serves as Associate Pastor at Trinity Baptist Church, and CPE Supervisor for a parish-based CPE program at the Morning Pilgrim Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama. Cecelia loves God and serving the people of God as they journey through the successes and challenges, joys and sorrows of life. She is the mother of Jeffery and Gabrielle (who went to be with the Lord February 25, 2006) and is married to Roy Ambrose, Jr.



Gary W. Yarbrough
Director of Pastoral Care
Shelby Baptist Medical Center

Gary Yarbrough earned his Bachelor of Religion degree from Birmingham-Southern College and his Master of Divinity from the Candler School of Theology in Atlanta, GA.  Gary received his Doctor of Ministry degree specializing in Faith and Health from Memphis Theological Seminary.  He is an advocate of holistic health care - ministering to the whole person: physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually and within the social context.  Gary has served as a member of the Advisory Councils for the Salvation Army, Community of Hope Health Clinic and Congregational Health/Parrish Nursing. He is Board Certified with the Association of Professional Chaplains and is a Clinical Member of the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education.  He continues to seek ways of building bridges between the hospital and faith community by providing opportunities for pastoral leadership and pastoral education. Gary is also a member of the Alabama Chaplains Association and has served in various leadership roles within the organization.  He is a veteran of the United States Air Force and the Alabama Army National Guard. He is endorsed by the United Methodist Church and a member of the North Alabama Conference.
