Baptist Health System has established relationships with the following organizations:
The Birmingham Baptist Association
The BBA is the parent organization of the Baptist Health System. Through the office of Church/Faith Relations, BHS maintains close ties with the 144 Baptist churches of the association. BHS is very active in support of the many ministry and mission efforts sponsored by the BBA.
Samford University is one of three Southern Baptist universities in the state of Alabama. Located in Birmingham, it offers BHS synergistic relationships in the area of nursing education, pharmacy education, pastoral ministries, and cooperation in mission opportunities initiated by either organization. One example of how the two have cooperated for the benefit of the medically underserved is through our partnership with the school of pharmacy and its efforts to make dialysis available in the Black Belt Region of the state of Alabama.
Mpower Ministries is a social ministry that offers a variety of services with a spiritual foundation. BHS actively supports the free medical clinic located at their site. BHS has provided medical equipment and encouraged its medical staff to become involved in the ministry of service to the underprivileged in the Birmingham area.
Discovery Clubs of Alabama
Through our Princeton Hospital, BHS supports an after school program in a local elementary school. The purpose of this club is to teach the Bible to young boys and girls. Such support has been proven effective in positively shaping the lives of youngsters at a crucial age.
City of Birmingham and Jefferson County
Working in conjunction with the Birmingham Baptist Association, BHS maintains an agreement with local city and county disaster relief agencies which draws upon Baptist resources and personnel. Volunteer doctors and the use of the BHS mobile medical van offers invaluable medical services to those hit by a natural disaster or other catastrophic events.
Wallace Memorial Baptist Hospital
Wallace Memorial is a hospital started by Southern Baptists in Pusan, Korea. It is a first rate, modern facility that ranks among the elite hospitals in all of Asia. BHS works with Wallace Memorial through a formal partnership that allows for exchange of technology, medical personnel, administrative training and other cooperative ventures.
