Talladega, ALA --- Citizens Baptist Medical Center recently started a hospitalist program to offer patients continual physician care during their stay in the hospital. A hospitalist, a physician who specializes in caring for patients in a hospital setting, works closely with the patient’s primary care physician to provide the highest level of care.
“Once a patient is admitted to the hospital, a hospitalist is designated and will be responsible for the patient’s care during their stay,” says Hospitalist Director, Milka Martinez, MD. “A hospitalist will meet with you and your family to explain the treatment plan and is available to speak with you at any time.”
The hospitalist program will be directed by Dr. Milka Martinez, who joins Citizens Baptist after serving as an Internal Medicine Physician for two years in Lincoln, Alabama.
“We are glad to offer this service to our patients,” Joel Taylor, President of Citizens Baptist Medical Center. “The hospitalist program is a great addition to the team of medical professionals who work to care for those in our hospital. It allows hospitalists and primary care physicians to work together to provide exceptional care to patients.”
When a patient is discharged from the hospital, the patient will return to the care of their primary care physician. The physician will have updated medical records from the patient’s hospital stay available. If a patient does not have a primary care physician, the hospitalist program is still available. To find a primary care physician, please call 1-877-222-7847.
