Keith Parrott
President & Chief Executive Officer

Keith Parrott was promoted to President and Chief Executive Officer in December 2013.  He served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer since January 2012. with oversight of the System’s four hospitals, as well as patient experience, marketing, strategic planning, and business development.  He joined BHS in February 2008 as President of Princeton Baptist Medical Center.  Prior to that, he spent 17 years with Memorial Hermann Healthcare System in Houston, Texas, holding several management positions. Mr. Parrott graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and received his Master’s degree in Health Care Administration from the University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL).  He is board certified in Health Care Management and is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. Mr. Parrott serves on the Alabama Hospital Association’s (AlaHa) Board of Directors. He was an American Hospital Association/Health Forum “Creating Healthier Communities” Fellow in 2002 and has served as Adjunct Faculty for the Health Administration Program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Greg Johnston
Chief Financial Officer
Senior Vice President

Greg Johnston, CPA, joined Baptist Health System in 1991. Prior to being named Senior Vice President and CFO, Johnston served as the System's Vice President of Finance since 2004. He has served the System in a number of leadership positions. Prior to joining BHS, his work experiences included Controller at Lakeshore Hospital and an Audit Manager at the Birmingham office of Arthur Young and Company. He holds a bachelor's degree in Commerce and Business Administration from the University of Alabama and is a past board member of the Alabama Chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association.

Scott Fenn
Chief Integration Officer
Vice President

Scott Fenn serves as Chief Integration Officer for Baptist Health System. In this role, he has the responsibility to create and align the inpatient and ambulatory clinical strategies for the health system while coordinating the physician/hospital relationship across the care continuum.  Fenn has responsibilities for Baptist Health Centers (87 employed physicians), clinical integration implementation across 500 private physicians, managed care contracting, graduate medical education, outpatient services and quality/case management. He also leads the NextGen electronic medical record implementation throughout the Baptist Health System's clinically integrated independent and employed physician network.

Fenn joined Baptist Health System in January 2009 and had previously held senior management positions for 17 years with Memorial Hermann Healthcare System in Houston, Texas.  During that time, he held numerous leadership positions in hospital operations, physician practice management, and managed care contracting. He earned his Masters of Healthcare Administration at Washington University in St. Louis, and his bachelor's degree in Finance/Marketing at Baylor University.

Beth Francis
Chief Human Resources Officer
Vice President

Beth Francis is the Vice President, Human Resources executive for Baptist Health System, Inc. (BHS). Beth has oversight of the Human Resources operations of BHS. Prior to assuming her current position in June 2013, Beth served as Vice President of Human Resources for DCH Health System (DCH) in Tuscaloosa starting 2010. Additionally, she has served in numerous leadership roles within the Carilion Health System and Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, Virginia.

Beth is a certified Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) and an American Council on Education Fitness and Spinning Instructor. She has a Master of Arts degree from Virginia Polytechnic and State University.

Beth’s various professional organizations include: Society for Human Resources Management, American Council on Exercise and American Society for Healthcare Human Resources. Her community involvement includes being a member of the Healthcare Management Strategic Advisory Board and a mentor with The Culver College of Business Administration both at the University of Alabama. She previously served on the Boards of Saint Francis Service Dogs of the Roanoke Valley in Virginia and Junior Achievement of West Alabama. She has been a volunteer with Big Brothers/Big Sisters and the Montgomery County Humane Society.

Elizabeth Ennis, M.D.
Chief Medical Officer
Vice President, Medical Education & Research

Dr. Elizabeth Ennis has been with Baptist Health System's Medical Education program since 1994. Before being named Vice President, Medical Education and Research, she served as Director of the Internal Medicine and Transitional Residency programs at BHS. She received her medical degree from the University of South Alabama in 1989 and did her internship in Internal Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she also completed her residency and a fellowship in Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism. Dr. Ennis is the author of several publications and has been the principal investigator of clinical research projects.  In addition, she has been an invited lecturer at both the local and national levels on her work.

Chris Davis, M.D.
Chief Information Officer / Chief Medical Informatics Officer

Dr. Davis was promoted to Chief Information Officer / Chief Medical Informatics Officer of Baptist Health System in 2014, after serving as Chief Medical Informatics Officer since 2012. In this role, Dr. Davis will provide comprehensive, strategic IT oversight and clinical leadership in the ongoing development and advancement of clinical systems and technology for the System’s four hospitals, and primary care and specialty care clinic network.

Prior to joining BHS, Dr. Davis worked at Mercy Health System in St. Louis, Mo., as a physician informaticist and Inpatient CMIO. During his six year tenure at Mercy in the field of medical informatics, he helped to transform the delivery of health care by assisting in the implementation of the Epic EHR in 18 hospitals across four states. He received his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, where he also completed his residency in Emergency Medicine. Following his residency, he practiced as an emergency physician in the Emergency Trauma Center at St. John’s Health System, Springfield, Mo. He holds a master’s degree in Medical Informatics from Northwestern University. Dr. Davis is board certified in Emergency Medicine and Clinical Informatics and is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians.

Betsy Postlethwait
President, Princeton Baptist Medical Center

Betsy Postlethwait was promoted to the position of president of Princeton BMC effective January 2012. She joined Baptist Health System as Chief Operating Officer of Princeton BMC in 2004. During her 25-year healthcare career she has held numerous senior leadership positions serving in the roles of chief financial officer, chief operating officer and chief executive officer. Prior to joining BHS, Postlethwait served as chief operating officer/chief financial officer of CHRISTUS St. John Hospital in Nassau Bay, Texas.

Postlethwait earned her bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina and completed a two-year master's level executive development program with American Medical International Hospital Corporation.

David Wilson
President, Shelby Baptist Medical Center

David C. Wilson became president of Shelby Baptist Medical Center in February of 2006, bringing with him many years of experience in hospital administration and a history of running hospitals that achieve top-rated patient satisfaction as well as high employee satisfaction scores. Prior to coming to Shelby Baptist, Wilson was chief executive officer at Saint Francis Hospital in Bartlett, Tennessee. He also gained experience serving as chief executive officer at Harton Regional Medical Center in Tullahoma, Tennessee, and Medical Center of Manchester in Manchester, Tennessee. Wilson received his master of science in health administration, graduating with honors, from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1989.  He holds bachelor's degrees in zoology and biology, both with honors, from the University of Tennessee.

 

Bob Phillips
President, Walker Baptist Medical Center

Bob Phillips joined Walker Baptist Medical Center as administrator in March of 2009. Prior to becoming administrator, Phillips served as executive director of operations for Baptist Health Centers for six years. Phillips also served as senior director of patient financial services and operations director for Baptist Health Centers. He began his career in health care in 1998 after completing his administrative residency. He holds a bachelor's degree of arts from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia. He also holds master's degrees in health care administration and business administration from the University of Alabama - Birmingham.

Joel Taylor
President, Citizens Baptist Medical Center

Joel Taylor joined Citizens Baptist Medical Center as administrator in September of 2010. Taylor came to Citizens Baptist from White County Community Hospital in Sparta, Tennessee where he served as chief executive officer for two years. He has also served as assistant chief executive officer at Parkway Medical Center in Decatur, Alabama. Taylor received a master of science in health administration and a master of business administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Birmingham-Southern College.

Valeta Neal
Chief Operating Officer, Baptist Health Centers

Valeta Neal has enjoyed a successful career with the Baptist Health System in both operations and business development since 1993. Mrs. Neal has served as the chief operating officer of Baptist Health Centers (BHC) since 2009 and her role was recently expanded to include the Baptist Physician Alliance (BPA). She received her Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of Alabama, Birmingham. Early in her career, Mrs. Neal found that she enjoyed the healthcare culture which offered the opportunity to focus on financial performance, planning and operations in an industry whose mission is to promote health, quality and service. She is married and the mother of 3 children.

Ross Mitchell
External & Governmental Affairs
Vice President

Ross Mitchell became Vice President of External and Governmental Affairs in January 2012. He joined Baptist Health System as Vice President of Marketing, Planning and Government Relations in August 2004. Mitchell came to BHS from the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he served as Director, Creative and Marketing Group. Prior to UAB, he worked at Lewis Communications as Director of Public Relations from 1997 to 1998; from 1995 to 1997 as Vice President with Townsend, Barney & Patrick; and as Vice President with Thom Gossom Communications, Inc. from 1994 to 1995.  He also spent five years with IIT Research Institute in Chicago where he managed the Institute's media relations function.  Mitchell earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in mass communications from UAB and a Master of Science degree (with honors) in journalism from Roosevelt University in Chicago. His professional activities include past president of the Public Relations Society of America, Alabama Chapter; part-time instructor Samford University; part-time faculty, UAB Communications Studies; and Society of Professional Journalists.
