Princeton Baptist Medical Center is dedicated to making its cardiac services among the best in the country. The American Heart Association's "Get With The Guidelines" program recognizes the dedication of Princeton Baptist's professionals as they work to improve the long-term outcomes of cardiac patients. Princeton Baptist has received numerous performance awards from the "Get With The Guidelines" program which are highlighted below. 

In September 2008, Princeton Baptist Medical Center received the American Heart Association's "Get With the Guidelines - Coronary Artery Disease" (GWTG-CAD) Gold Performance Achievement Award. This award recognizes Princeton's commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of cardiac care that effectively improves treatment of patients hospitalized with coronary artery disease. Under the GWTG-CAD program, patients begin aggressive risk reduction therapies such as cholesterol-lowering drugs, aspirin, ACE inhibitors and beta-blockers in the hospital and receive smoking cessation/weight management counseling as well as referrals for cardiac rehabilitation before they are discharged. Hospitals that receive the GWTG-CAD Gold Performance Achievement Award have demonstrated for twenty-four consecutive months that at least eighty-five percent of its eligible coronary patients (without contraindications) are discharged following the American Heart Association's recommended treatment guidelines.

 

 

In April 2008, Princeton Baptist Medical Center received the American Heart Association's "Get With The Guidelines - Heart Failure" Bronze Performance Achievement Award. This award recognizes Princeton's commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of cardiac care. Hospitals that receive this award must demonstrate compliance in the five GWTG-HF Achievement Measures in at least eighty-five percent of all eligible patients consecutively for ninety days. 

 

 

In November 2007, Princeton Baptist was the only hospital in Alabama to receive the "Get With The Guidelines - Coronary Artery Disease" (GWTG-CAD) Silver Performance Achievement Award. The award recognizes Princeton's commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of cardiac care that effectively improves treatment of patients hospitalized with coronary artery disease, including heart attack. Hospitals that receive this award have demonstrated for at least one year that eighty-five percent of its coronary patients (without contraindications) are discharged following the American Heart Association's recommended treatment guidelines. This team effort has translated into a fifteen to twenty percent improvement in outcome measures, which means more lives have been saved. Developed to assist health care professionals follow proven standards and procedures before patients are discharged, GWTG-CAD can help Princeton Baptist reduce the risk of recurrent heart attacks and death in treated patients. The program mobilizes teams in acute care hospitals to implement American Heart Association/American College of Cardiology secondary prevention guidelines.
