At Baptist Health System, we work diligently to assure the safety and well being of patients, staff and visitors. We strive to design systems and processes to monitor and improve safety.
Some safeguards we have put in place to protect our patients include:
*Time outs taken before surgery begins to ensure that the right procedure is being performed on the right patient.
*Bar coding systems to help our nurses ensure that they are giving the right medicines to the right patients.
*Special bands to alert everyone of patients that may be at a higher risk for falling.
*Specially trained nurses that are available 24 hours a day to rush to a patient's bedside and provide additional support to the patient's nurse before emergencies occur.
We also need your help. You play an important role. Always bring a list of all the medicines you are taking when you come to the hospital. Be sure to let the healthcare team know about all your allergies. But most importantly, speak up if you have any questions or safety concerns.
