"...by contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control." Ephesians 5:22
The Digestive Disease Center at Shelby Baptist Medical Center brings together a group of experienced gastroenterologists, who are dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal disorders in a warm and caring environment.
For the convenience of you and family members who accompany you, we offer a comfortable waiting room; however, to provide privacy and security, only patients are allowed in the preparation and recovery areas. Volunteers and staff at the registration desk are happy to help if waiting family members need information.
The average procedure in the Digestive Disease Center takes about three hours or more from admission to discharge. With four well-equipped procedure rooms and 11 preparation/recovery units, our goal is to maintain scheduled procedure times as closely as possible. However, as the time required for a procedure may vary from patient to patient and unforeseen circumstances arise, we appreciate your patience if delays occur.
Sophisticated equipment enables our staff to evaluate both routine and complex diagnostic problems. Shelby's innovative information systems put online test results readily at the fingertips of referring physicians to help keep them involved in subsequent treatment decisions and the follow-up care of their patients. |Quote from Janice Sullivan, Charge Nurse, Digestive Disease Center:
"Some people find procedures like these frightening or embarrassing; but, we want to make each patient feel comfortable and at ease. Keeping them informed so they know what to expect is important in achieving that goal.
It's also one of the reasons at the Digestive Disease Center we survey our patients about their experience here. Continuing to make improvements in the care we provide is vital in meeting the needs of our patients."
