If You Have Health Insurance

You should be familiar with the terms of your insurance coverage.  It is the responsibility of the patient to be sure pre-certification is completed if required.

Walker Baptist will submit bills to your insurance company and do everything possible to get your claim processed in a timely manner.  You should remember that your policy is a contract between you and your insurance company, and you have the final responsibility for payment of your hospital bill.  We have several payment options available to assist you in paying your bill.

If you have any questions about your insurance coverage, call your insurance agent or employer.  You may also call our business office at extension 4465.

If You Have No Health Insurance

A representative of the business office will discuss financial arrangements with you.  Your bill will be payable in full at time of discharge, unless other arrangements have been made with the business office or the admitting office.

Payment Options

Walker Baptist accepts cash, checks, MasterCard, and Visa as forms of payment.

Your Hospital Bill

Your hospital bill reflects all of the hospital services you receive during your stay.  The daily room charge on your bill covers general nursing care, room, dietary service, housekeeping, laundry, social service, telephone (excluding long distance calls), and other services provided by the hospital.

You are charged separately for special services ordered by your physician as part of your treatment.  Special services' charges may include medication, laboratory and radiology services, the use of the operating room, surgical dressings, and other items.

Your Doctors' Fees

Doctors' fees are not included on your hospital bill.  Any services provided by your personal doctor or other physicians, such as pathologists, radiologists, neurologists, anesthesiologists, and other consultants and specialists, will be billed separately by the physician.  If you have any questions about theses bills, please call the telephone number on the statement you receive. 


Before leaving the hospital, you must receive authorization for discharge unless other financial arrangements have been made with the business office.  We will be glad to offer you "Express Discharge."  Please let your nurse know that you would like for a Financial Services representative to contact you and come to your room to collect you balance due or assist you with other payment options.

When you are discharged, you are expected to pay the portion of your bill not covered by your insurance or your bill in full if you do not have insurance.
